Thai Beef with Broccoli in Oyster Sauce

So many people have asked me to cook this dish. It is one of the easiest stir fries you will ever cook. The end result is a fantastic meal that will cost you so little to make compared with what you would pay in a take away.

I used Aldi’s Minute steak strips to make mine but you can use fillet or striploin steak from your butcher if you prefer.

Use gluten free oyster and soy sauce if you need this recipe to be gluten free.



Allergens : Contains Gluten

Steak – Striploin, Fillet or Minute Steak Strips – 400g

Broccoli – 10 – 15 small florets

Spring Onion – 3 – 4 Sliced into 1/2 inch pieces

Oyster Sauce – 2 tbsp

Fish Sauce – 1 tsp

Sugar – 1 tsp

Fresh Ginger – 1/2 inch chopped

Garlic – 1 clove chopped

Green Pepper – 1/2 thinly sliced, seeds removed

Fresh basil leaves – 6

White Pepper – pinch to taste

Fresh Chilli (optional) – to taste

Soy Sauce – 1/2 tsp




You will need – 1 wok or light pan, 1 wooden or metal spoon, 2 sharp knives, 2 chopping boards


Slice the beef into strips, then heat the oil in the wok or pan till it is good and hot.


Add the beef and the broccoli florets then flash fry for about 3 minutes until the beef is has browned slightly.


Add the spring onion, garlic, ginger, green pepper and chilli if using it then fry for 1 minute more.


Add the soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, pepper, sugar and basil.


Either toss the pan or give the ingredients a stir for about 20 seconds then remove from the heat, taste, if happy serve with jasmine rice.
